The Conjuring: Last Rites
Michael Chaves is the director of the upcoming supernatural horror film The Conjuring: Last Rites in the United States. In it, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga play the characters of Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators and writers, respectively. It is the ninth part of The Conjuring Universe and the follow-up The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021). Peter Safran and James Wan are back to produce.

"What [The Devil Made Me Do It] hopefully does is open up this new chapter for the Warrens," director Michael Chaves said in an interview with Empire prior to the June 2021 release of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It regarding the potential for more Conjuring series entries. This film's conclusion is quite different from other Conjuring movies. I'm eager to see where it might go from here. [1] Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, two actors, also indicated that they would like to come back. "Oh my God, I'd love to [continue]," Farmiga had said. It's intriguing; we must increase everyone's level of terror. Demonology is already very operatic and high-pitched. [2] The Hollywood Reporter reported in October 2022 that a fourth Conjuring movie was in the works, with James Wan and Peter Safran returning as producers and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick writing the screenplay. [3]
Work on the script was expected to continue before The Nun II's September 2023 release, according to Chaves, who said the project was meant to be viewed as a "finale" of the franchise's earlier adventures. [4] Chaves was negotiating to direct by February 2024 [5], and Ben Hardy and Mia Tomlinson joined the cast in September. [6]
Filming had begun by September 17, 2024, and was planned to take place in London from September 10 to October 10, [7]. [8] [9] The last day of filming was November 22. It is not anticipated that Sterling Jerins will return. [10]
